According to research firm Kantar Worldpanel, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge became an immediate hit among US consumers, capturing 5.8% of Q1 2016 smartphone sales despite only being available for the last few weeks of the sales period. The S7 has continued that momentum and has become the top selling smartphone in the US, outpacing the iPhone 6s and 6s plus. The Galaxy S7/S7 Edge made up 16% of sales and the iPhone 6s/6s Plus at 14.6%.

A large portion of this success is because of the rugged features of the device.
